My mentors have become both professional and personal role models for me. I am grateful for the opportunity during my training to learn from such a diverse array of individuals, with whom I continue to maintain friendships and professional collaborations.

At the Eye Clinic of the University Hospital in my hometown of Zurich, I completed the majority of my conservative ophthalmological basic training.

Challenging weekend shifts in a busy emergency department taught me to keep a cool head even in stressful situations.

After my residency, I worked as a senior physician in the department of Prof. Dr. med. Gerth-Kahlert. She sparked my passion for pediatric ophthalmology, provided me with training, and opened up the opportunity for further training in Toronto.

Upon completing my specialty training, I embarked on a journey to Nepal and India to master the technique of Small Incision Cataract Surgery (SICS).

Subsequently, I spent six months residing in East Timor (Timor-Leste), where I worked at the National Hospital in the capital city of Dili as part of the East Timor Eye Program. This compact nation, nestled on a breathtakingly beautiful island, has traversed a challenging path to independence. The warmth and open-heartedness of its people left an indelible impression on me.

I worked for several years as the medical director and lead surgeon at the Augenärzte Zentrum Aarau (AZA). I had the privilege of collaborating with a fantastic team of medical practice assistants, orthoptists, optometrists, and physicians, and benefiting from the trust and experience of the medical director, Dr. Darius Madjdpour. This collaboration within a large team enabled me to perform a large number of eye surgeries and to grow both professionally and personally.

From Prof. Dr. Hanspeter E. Killer (former chief physician of the Cantonal Hospital Aarau), I was able to learn a great deal more in the fields of glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, and strabismus.

Today, as a consultant ophthalmologist at AZA, I perform eye muscle and cataract surgeries and always look forward to reuniting with “my” team.

As the head physician for pediatric ophthalmology and orthoptics, I worked with a team of 10 outstanding orthoptists at over 10 locations throughout German-speaking Switzerland.

Every week, we met online for professional exchange and to discuss challenging cases. I led a clinic for pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at locations in Aarau, Zurich, Bern, and St. Gallen.

At the office at Schaffhauserplatz, I dedicate myself to complex cases in a clinic and to the planning of strabismus surgeries.
